Where to get help for farm work in Detroit

  1. Your  immediate and extended family
  2. Your neighbors
  3. Your neighbors’ children.
  4. Your friends.
  5. Your friends’ friends
  6. Work share arrangements with other Farmers in your Neighborhood
  7. Consider a stipend for work done by youth in your community
  8. Invite volunteers to help via visible signage around your garden and consider gifting them with some produce
  9. Drive to your neighborhood gas station and offer the brothers looking to pump your gas a real short term job (negotiate terms clearly in advance).
  10. Post up volunteer opportunities on coffee shop boards around town
  11. Post up volunteer opportunities on boards at places like whole foods in Midtown.
  12. Connect with churches around you, or schools, and invite the communities to learn and share in the work.
  13. Post up need for help on the Detroit Urban Farmers Group on facebook.
